Our design proposal sees its roots in the place: the shape of the new building is generated as the artificial continuation of the Tauras hill, a big volume folding in on itself and extending its elevation, and becoming a sounding board above the city.

Indeed, symbolically we can read this gesture as the political will of a conscious cultural elevation.

At the same time, rising from the earth means to become a link within the city rather than a divisive sculptural expression. Its accessible roof and broad slope make the building a social monument rather than a mere sculptural one.

The elevated location, on top of the Tauras Hill, clearly evokes that the building will be seen from a distance. The building is meant to be a landmark: simple, iconic and easily recognisable in the skyline.

At the same time, the building dialogues with respect to the context. Carefully, we have closely studied the connection of the site with both immediate and wider context of its physical and socials surroundings.
