The new primary school replaces the outdated one from the ’80s, which did not meet seismic standards. The plot is part of a campus that also includes a kindergarten, middle school, and sports facility.
The design is a clear reinterpretation of the beautiful hilly landscape which characterize the surroundings of Colognola ai Colli which is enriched by the presence of vine and fruit trees.
The primary school rises from the earth up to the sky. It is conceived as a grassy ramp that travels from the ground up to a green roof. The gentle slope and roof serve as a play area and a lookout to the pastoral landscape, historic village, and the courtyard below.
The study of the shape of the building and its inner court finds its first inspiration from the observation of the surrounding area. In particular, the hills to the east of the lot in question suggest a shape that immediately reminds us of a heart; it draws the space of the internal courtyard of the school, in an embrace, it makes a protected space without imposing a heavy physical closure. A sequaence of facets and irregular forms shapes the faces of the internal elevation and the volumes of the new school building. The external elevations show a different texture a rough stucco in the nuances of the local earth, which connects once again with the nature of the place. Distributively, the school is made up of a body on two levels which houses the didactic and service functions. On one level, however, the large and airy entrance hall remains from which you can access, on one side, the classrooms on the ground floor and the vertical distribution system, on the other, the special and multifunctional classrooms. The exterior spaces are particularly loved by the pupils who love to run up to the rood, and practice short performance underneath the open-air theater.
The school is designed according to the highest standards of sustainability, facilitating the permeability of the soil, use of photovoltaic panels, South glassed facade with triple glazing and double inner chambers.
La nuova scuola elementare sostituisce l'obsoleta scuola esistente risalente agli anni '80 e che non rispettava gli standard sismici. L'area fa parte di un campus che comprende anche un asilo nido, una scuola media e un impianto sportivo.
Il progetto è una chiara reinterpretazione dello stupendo paesaggio collinare che caratterizza i dintorni di Colognola ai Colli arricchito dalla presenza di viti e alberi da frutto.
La scuola elementare si erge dalla terra fino al cielo ed è concepita come una rampa erbosa che collega il piano di campagna al punto più alto dell'edificio.
La copertura funge da area giochi e da belvedere sul paesaggio, sul villaggio storico e sul cortile sottostante.
Lo studio della forma dell'edificio e della sua corte interna trova la sua prima ispirazione dall'osservazione del territorio circostante. In particolare, le colline ad est del lotto suggeriscono una forma che ricorda subito un cuore; disegna lo spazio del cortile interno della scuola in un abbraccio e crea uno spazio protetto. Un susseguirsi di sfaccettature e di forme irregolari modellano il disegno del prospetto interno e le volumetrie del nuovo edificio scolastico. I prospetti esterni mostrano una diversa consistenza in quantro trattati con uno stucco grezzo che richiama sfumature della terra locale.
La scuola è costituita da un corpo su due livelli che ospita le funzioni didattiche e di servizio al primo livello e un ampio androne, le sale multifunzionali e ulteriori aule nell'altro.
Gli spazi esterni sono particolarmente amati dagli alunni che utilizzano il teatro per brevi rappresentazioni all'aperto.
La scuola è progettata secondo i più alti standard di sostenibilità, su tutto la presenza di grande permeabilità del suolo, l'uso di pannelli fotovoltaici, l'adozione di una facciata in vetro a sud con tripli vetri e doppie camere interne.
